Wildlife Amendment Regulations 2001
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970 .

These regulations may be cited as the Wildlife Amendment Regulations 2001 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Wildlife Regulations 1999 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)
Regulation 3(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of take .
5. Regulation 6 amended (Licences and permits)
Regulation 6 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by inserting in subregulation (3) "or a permit" after "licence";(b) by inserting in subregulation (7) "or an application for a permit" after "licence";(c) by omitting subregulations (8) , (9) and (10) and substituting the following subregulations:(8) If an applicant for a licence or a permit, within 5 years before the date of the making of the application, has been convicted of a relevant offence, the licence or permit is not to be issued except with the approval of the Director.(9) A person who holds a licence or a permit must not make application for another licence or permit of the same kind and any licence or permit issued in pursuance of such an application is of no effect.Penalty: Fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.(10) Any person issued with a licence or a permit that is of no effect must surrender that licence or permit to the Director or an authorised officer.Penalty: Fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
6. Schedule 7 amended (Domestic stock)
Schedule 7 to the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting afterthe following item:
Caviidae
Guinea Pig
Cavia procellus
Leporidae
European rabbit
Oryctolagus cuniculus
Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the regulation)
These regulations amend the Wildlife Regulations 1999 by (a) including permits in certain provisions relating to licences; and(b) prescribing European rabbits as domestic stock.
