Wildlife Amendment Regulations 2005
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Nature Conservation Act 2002 .

These regulations may be cited as the Wildlife Amendment Regulations 2005 .
These regulations take effect on 5 March 2005.
In these regulations, the Wildlife Regulations 1999 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)
Regulation 3(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by inserting the following definition after the definition of inspector :lead shot means shot that is made of lead or any alloy containing lead;(b) by inserting the following definition after the definition of protected wildlife :public land means (a) any land that is managed by a statutory authority if members of the public have lawful access to the land; and(b) any Crown land that is subject to a lease if members of the public have lawful access to the land;
5. Regulation 34 amended (Special provisions as to wild duck)
Regulation 34 of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting after subregulation (5) the following subregulation:(6) Except with the permission of the Secretary, a person who is on any public land during the open season for the taking of wild duck must not use, or have possession of, any ammunition containing lead shot for the purpose of taking wild duck on that public land.Penalty: Fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.

These regulations amend the Wildlife Regulations 1999 to prohibit the use, or the possession, of any ammunition containing lead shot, on any public land during the open season for the taking of wild duck, for the purpose of taking wild duck on that public land.
