Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Road Safety Levy) Regulations 2011

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Road Safety Levy) Regulations 2011 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on 1 November 2011.

3.   Principal Regulations

In these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2010 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.

4.    Regulation 121 amended (Interpretation of Part)

Regulation 121 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "30 November 2012" from the definition of prescribed period and substituting "30 November 2017".

5.    Regulation 122 amended (Road safety levy)

Regulation 122(3) of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) "$20" and substituting "$25";
(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) "$12" and substituting "$15".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations amend the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2010 by –
(a) extending, until 30 November 2017, the period during which the road safety levy is payable; and
(b) increasing that levy.
