Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment Regulations 2022
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .

These regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment Regulations 2022 .
These regulations take effect on 1 August 2022.
In these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2021 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Schedule 2 amended (Demerit Points Offences)
Schedule 2 to the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting after item 27 in in Part 2 the following items:
27A.
Fail to slow to safe stopping speed when approaching police/emergency/assistance/escort vehicle displaying flashing light or sounding alarm

Fail to give way to police/emergency/assistance/escort vehicle worker in vicinity of vehicle displaying flashing light or sounding alarm

Pass or overtake police/emergency/assistance/escort vehicle displaying flashing light or sounding alarm at speed greater than 40km/h

27D.
Fail to maintain safe speed when passing or overtaking police/emergency/assistance/escort vehicle displaying flashing light or sounding alarm so as to cause danger to police/emergency/assistance vehicle worker in vicinity

These regulations amend the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2021 by inserting new demerit point offences relating to certain circumstances where a driver must slow down and give way to other vehicles and persons.
