Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (Fees) Regulations 2023
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification Act 2003 .

These regulations may be cited as the Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (Fees) Regulations 2023 .
These regulations take effect on 11 December 2023.
In these regulations Act means the Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification Act 2003 ;basic-level setting task means the task of setting an examination paper, including the accompanying answers and solutions or marking guide, that has been determined by the Board to be a task of a basic level;complex-level setting task means the task of setting an examination paper, including the accompanying answers and solutions or marking guide, that has been determined by the Board to be a task of a complex level;critic means a person holding an appointment as a critic, by whatever term described, with the Board to review and report on one or both of the following:(a) draft examination papers, including the accompanying answers and solutions or marking guides;(b) draft texts for aural examinations for senior secondary courses, including the accompanying answers and solutions or marking guides;examination answer paper means (a) the written paper of an examinee containing his or her answers or solutions to an examination paper, whether those answers or solutions are on or combined with the examination paper or in a separate document; or(b) the written paper of an examinee containing his or her answers or solutions to an aural examination for a senior secondary course;examination paper means a written examination paper for a senior secondary course containing questions to which the examinee is required to provide written answers or solutions;folio means a folio of a student's original written, artistic or other work or product;marker means a person who has accepted an appointment with the Board to mark one or more of the following:(a) an examination answer paper;(b) a folio;(c) an oral examination;(d) a practical examination;marking coordinator means the person holding an appointment as marking coordinator with the Board;setting examiner means a person who has accepted an appointment as a setting examiner, by whatever term described, with the Board to set or compose one or more of the following:(a) an examination paper, accompanied by answers and solutions or a marking guide;(b) the text for an aural examination for a senior secondary course, accompanied by answers and solutions or a marking guide;supervisor means the person holding an appointment as supervisor with the Board;supervisor coordinator means the person holding an appointment as supervisor coordinator with the Board;support supervisor means the person holding an appointment as support supervisor with the Board.
The fees specified in Schedule 1 are payable in respect of the matters specified in that Schedule.
5. Fees payable in relation to examinations
(1) Each of the following persons is entitled to be paid a fee for the task performed by the person, as specified:(a) supervisor coordinator, for planning and coordinating exam centres at specified locations during the examination period on behalf of the Board;(b) supervisor, for supervising the conduct of candidates during the examination period in accordance with the rules;(c) support supervisor, for assisting in tasks for the preparation of exam centres for the examination period and supervising the conduct of candidates during the examination period;(d) setting examiner, for setting an examination paper, including the accompanying answers and solutions, or marking guide, and the text for an aural exam;(e) critic, for reviewing and reporting on an examination paper, including the accompanying draft answers and solutions, or draft marking guide, and the draft text for an aural examination;(f) marking coordinator, for coordinating other markers and ensuring that marking is evenly distributed between markers and that all papers are marked within the timeframe;(g) marker, for marking any, or any part of any, of the following:(i) an examination answer paper;(ii) a folio;(iii) an oral examination;(iv) a practical examination.(2) The fee payable to a person under subregulation (1) is that percentage of the fee specified in Schedule 2 that corresponds to the percentage of the task performed by the person.NoteFor example, the fee payable to a marker who marks only 25% of an examination answer paper is 25% of the relevant fee specified in Schedule 2 .
These regulations expire on 30 June 2025.
